Focus bikes extend their electric bike catalogue with the conversion of their sam enduro weapon
Short for Super All Mountain, the SAM is Focus’ enduro mountain bike; and now the German company has taken it under its wing to build a long travel eMTB – the SAM². It takes many things from the JAM² such as the Shimano STEPS E8000 system and Focus’ T.E.C battery design. This allows an additional 378Wh battery to be added with the internal battery for a combined total of 756Wh.
There will be three variants with the release, the standard SAM², SAM² LTD and SAM² Pro. Both the standard and LTD will be $7,499AUD whilst the Pro is pricier at $11,999AUD. All of the models mostly feature identical components, with the only main differences being the suspension, drive train and brakes. The standard will run FOX forks and shock with a SRAM NX 11 speed drivetrain, whereas the LTD is equipped with RockShox suspension and Shimano Deore gears.
Magura brakes can be found on both the standard and LTD versions, but the LTD opts for a lower spec MT2 while the standard build are fitted with the MT5. The Pro will come with SRAM Code RSC hydraulic brakes, and upgrade its components to SRAM EX1 drivetrain and FOX Factory suspension. Check out the 3 variants below.
